September 11, 2001. We must never forget. Flags at half mast today, and a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. EDT.
We go to great lengths to recover fallen comrades, we honor them in the most precise and exacting ceremonies, we set aside national holidays to remember and celebrate them. We do these things for them, of course, but also for us, the living. Their stories of heroism, of sacrifice, and of patriotism remind us of what is best in ourselves, and they teach our children what is best in America.

The American Legion is 100 years old. It all began in Paris March 15-17, 1919. They expected 300, officially 463 registered and launched a century of accomplishments unforeseeable, if not unimaginable, at the time.
National Commander Greg "Doc" Gibbs says "On this special day ... as Legion family members this should be easy to answer, keep up the great work! Doc"
