Sons support Badger Youth Camp
|
|
Several members of the Wisconsin Legion and Sons of The American Legion participated in this year’s Badger Youth Camp in Wautoma.
The Camp is a retreat for children of deployed service men and women.
Activities included Raising of the Flag to start the day, Proper Flag Folding/Etiquette, a play based on the song Ragged Old Flag but Johnny Cash, and a Question/Answer session with Veterans who participated.
Another great example of how the Sons of The American Legion are supporting the youth of our veterans and Active Military personnel, thank you to all who participated!! (photos provided by Jo Timms)

At the 2023 State Convention, the total impact of what all the SAL Squadrons across Wisconsin last year was revealed. And this was with only about 1/3 of the Squadrons reporting. This information is taken from the Consolidated Squadron Report (CSR) which is usually submitted in late spring.
Did your Squadron submit one? Go to Consolidated Report Forms - Sons of The American Legion (wisal.org) to find out.

Online Membership Renewals are here - make sure your info is current
|
|
|
Individual members can and are renewing their dues online by going to https://legion.org/sal-renew
What does that mean for you and your Squadron?
It means that making sure we have current information about your Squadron is vitally important.
The amount to report is the TOTAL amount collected per member: National ($5) + State ($7) + what the Squadron keeps.
So if your Squadron dues is $20.00, show it as $20.00 so your Squadron will receive back $8.00 per member.
If we do not have your dues, when your members renew online the system will only collect $12.00. Your Squadron will be out the extra you charge, or you will have to separately contact your members to collect the difference.
All this information can be provided to Detachment Headquarters via an on-line form to lookup and then update your Squadron Information. Fill out that form and submit. Thank you in advance for updating this important information.
By the way, your 2024 cards were sent to your Post in June. If you don't have them, contact your Post.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this years Detachment Convention in Rothschild last month.
We hope everyone enjoyed themselves and learned something new about our great organization.
On the membership front, our Detachment reached a new all time high at over 4,300 members and we welcomed 10 new Squadrons last year!
And congratulations to all the award winning Squadrons. A list of all the accomplishments, a breakdown of our impact and awards can be found at www.wisal.org/convention.

2023 National Convention—Charlotte, NC
|
|
This year’s National Convention will be in Charlotte, North Carolina on Aug 25-27th. Thank you to all our Delegates who will be going to this event to represent the Detachment of Wisconsin. We have 14 delegates assigned to this convention.
Next year’s Convention will be in New Orleans. We will select delegates for that convention at our State Convention next summer. We are always looking for new delegates, contact a Detachment Officer if you would like to learn more about National Conventions and possibly attend next year.
For The Sons of The American Legion, a National Convention has three key purposes:
- To celebrate all the great work the organization is doing at all levels
- To Elect the next set of National Officers
