This has been a great year so far, we are having fun and donations have been coming in for the Junior Shooters Sports program, which is Commanders Severson’s Project. We are still a little behind on our Child Welfare Foundation goal of $1.10 per member; remember the deadline is May 31, 2012 to count for this year’s convention awards.
The latest membership report is online at, www.wisal.org, http://wisal.org/detachment/committees/internal_affairs/membership/Membership12-33_03-06-12.pdf

Spring DEC April 21, 2012 Portage WI
We would like to extend an invitation to all of our squadrons to attend the Detachment Executive Committee meetings April 21, 2012 8:45AM-3:30 PM. The meeting will be held at our Headquarters building 2930 American Legion Dr, Portage, WI, 53901. Our Committees and Commissions meeting the morning, there is training sessions during the lunch hour and out DEC meeting in the afternoon.
The American Legion Birthday
March 15, 2012 will mark the 93rd birthday of The American Legion. What does your squadron have planned for this monumental occasion? Detachment Historian Goderstad is asking all squadrons to send photos of their Legion Birthday events for the Detachment History Book. Mail to Sons of The American Legion, PO Box 388 Portage, WI 53901-0388, include details of your event.
If your squadron is 100 percent by the American Legion Birthday they will receive a certificate from Fang Wong, National American Legion Commander and Jim Roberts, National Sons of The American Legion Commander. The cutoff date is March 15, 2012. The citations will be presented at the Spring DEC in Portage, April 21, 2012.
Triple Nickel Award
Triple Nickel Award: We want to win the Triple Nickel Award this year, so we need at least 85 percent retention, 105% total membership and recruit 5 new squadrons.
On that note we are missing 666 members who have not renewed from 2011, as you can see the devil is in the details.
We have already chartered 3 new squadrons and are working on the final paperwork for a few more.
Let’s step up our game and WIN $555.00 dollars for our programs.
National and Regional Update
We are seventh in the nation, FIRST in the Central Region, and Central Region is leading on the National Membership Trail once again. We only need 358 members to reach our national goal of one-hundred percent. I am confident we can reach our final goal of 110%, but I need your help. Contact your Squadron members and make this a fun competition, challenge them to be the best they can be, by recruiting new members, and renewing our old members.

To reach our Triple Nickel Award requirements we need to finish the 2012 membership year over 105%, well these 31 squadrons have already done that and more. When you see the officers of these squadrons give them a hand. If you are not quite at goal there is still time, make sure your squadron is over 105 percent before June 1, 2012.
